There are many moments of tonal subtlety which, in the fragility of the motifs, give the pelvic range of the percussion the opportunity to develop it's own colors. There are also challenging passages where the piano, with it's fascinatingly articulated runs and sound salvos, rises to become the dominant instrument, but without blurring it's fullness in pathos.
