It only took three compositions - L'Oiseau de Feu (The Firebird), Petrushka, and Le Scacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring)- for Igor Stravinsky to catapult into stardom. These three ballets were written between 1910 and 1913. The two ballet works featured on this album, Le Sacre du printemps, and L'Oiseau de Feu, are arguably the most performed of his three ballets. This recording of the two are recorded by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, conducted by Andres Orozco-Estrada. The Frankfurt Radio Symphony was one of the first radio symphonies in Germany. Founded in 1929, they have successfully balanced the delicate tasks of preserving tradition and keeping up with modern music.
