Debuting in 1979, The Dukes of Hazzard followed a family of moonshine runners and their adventures with the law. Based on an earlier film titled Moonrunners, the show would go on to be a major success, making a distinct mark on popular culture in the United States in the 80s.
The narrative character of 'The Balladeer' went to Waylon Jennings. And the job of scoring the show went to Waylon and his band, The Waylors. (After the first season, the networks went with a more clean cut music crew, leaving the Waylors behind in the continuing saga of the Duke family.)
During the process of unearthing and archiving Waylon’s lost studio recordings, his son Shooter found the original recordings of the Balladeer's lines for the first two episodes of The Dukes of Hazzard, complete with bloopers and out-takes. Shooter also found the original recordings for the soundtrack to first season of the Dukes, produced by Richie Albright, and featuring Waylon and his smoking backing band.
