Initially meeting while playing in the quartet Great Buildings, Danny Wilde and Phil Solem continued working together after the dissolution of that band, rebranding themselves as The Rembrandts. The combined success of their self-titled 1990 debut and their follow-up album, Untitled, opened the door for them to co-write and record the theme for a new NBC sitcom called Friends.
The theme song, "I'll Be There For You", topped the US Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart for eight weeks and also hit #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary and Top 40 Mainstream charts. At the peak of its popularity, the song was not available as a commercial single, thus becoming the first song to top the Hot 100 Airplay chart without appearing on the Hot 100 (it soon appeared as a bonus track on what would be their third album, L.P.).
But L.P. is more than "I'll Be There For You" -- it's another stellar album in The Rembrandts' catalog. Now returning for its 30th anniversary, L.P. is available on vinyl for the first time ever.
2LP pressed on Opaque Yellow vinyl.
